Macarthur Legal Centre offers a Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Financial Counselling Service for people who are experiencing, or at risk of, domestic or family violence. This Service recognises that financial abuse and control are often central features of domestic and family violence, and that practical financial support can be critical to safety, stability and recovery.
The Service seeks to improve financial, social and legal outcomes for people impacted by domestic or family violence.
How we can help
Our Domestic and Family Violence Financial Counselling service provides targeted financial counselling and casework assistance, tailored to your individual circumstances. This may include support with:

Accessing the service
Access to financial counselling is often provided through referral or in conjunction with Macarthur Legal Centre’s other services.

A holistic, wrap-around service
The Domestic and Family Violence Financial Counselling Service works closely with Macarthur Legal Centre’s general legal service, tenancy service and domestic violence court assistance scheme. This collaborative approach allows us to provide holistic, wrap-around support where clients have overlapping legal, financial and social needs.
By working across services, we aim to reduce the need for clients to retell their story and ensure support is coordinated, trauma-informed and responsive.
